4 Hour Work Week

Live the new rich lifestyle

New ideas, hopefully leading to lots more free time

I'm only half way through the book. I'm finding it a lot more interesting than I thought I would. I came home from a weekend vacation with the goal of looking at every activity this week as to whether it can be eliminated, streamlined, or outsourced. First step -- I'm putting all of my bills on auto-pay and email delivery. I'm done with opening mail, paying (even though I do it online), and scanning/filing paperwork. I'm hoping this will save me about an hour a week; that may be an overestimate, but we'll see. I'll be looking at all my other "at home" administrative tasks as well.

I liked Tim Ferris" point about mini-retirements. I had put off reading his book, taking his title too literally, thinking "I like what I do; I wouldn't want to give it up". But I would like to set a goal of a two week vacation every three months, for starters. So by the end of the week I intend to know how much income I would need to replace with my "muse" business.

What comes next after that I'm not sure, but I'm hoping to learn from this group.

Great work on getting through the book. I think you'll start to see there is a lot of great potential in this book. If you ever have any questions on what Tim talks about in the book, or on the whole 4hourworkweek (4HWW) concept, don't hesitate to post on this group. We'd love to help out.

DONE WITH OPENING MAIL
I saw that you want to stop opening mail, as this seems to waste some of your time. A great service you may be interested in is http://www.earthclassmail.com/pricing. In a nutshell, you have your mail delivered to them and they simply scan everything into PDF files. You then get your postal mail delivered to your email inbox.

TOOL FITS THE 4HWW LIFESTLYE
This allows you to check mail once a week if you want (have it all sent to one particular email account). In addition, you can check mail from anywhere (vacation, Italy, etc.). Checking mail once per week shouldn't be a problem since there doesn't seem to be too many urgent items that come through the snail mail postal service anymore.

Just a thought.

I just started listening to 4HWW audiobook I downloaded. Yes, just like in the Automatic Millionaire I am trying to get all my bills on electronic notication (Go Green) and on autopay. I also trying to get all my revenue streams on direct deposit as well. Easing my finances will save more time.
